Weekend Outfit

Over the weekend the hubs and I went to the farmer's market, the library book sale, and Whole Foods. I also studied for an upcoming quiz and finals while the hubs graded and did some writer stuff.

My Saturday outfit came together after some effort. At first, I planned on wearing a skirt, but had trouble finding a top. After three tries, I tried this one and then didn't like the skirt with it, so I tried the shorts. Fun outfit! The belt isn't really a belt. I bought a set of sheets a while back and they were wrapped with this tie, so I'm using it as a belt. The shoes were a convenience factor. In other words, I hadn't put them away since the last time I wore them.

Thanks For Stopping By

I started this blog for myself about 1.5 years ago. I never imagined that anyone would actually read it or even look forward to reading it. I can't tell you how overwhelmed I am that even one person looks forward to reading this blog. Thank you all for stopping by and reading my blog. One of my coworkers told me today that I need to post something new, so here it is.

Here's what I wore today. I picked up this shirt when I went thrifting with my sisters. This lavender blouse is flowy and just perfect. I was inspired by the LuLu's shirt that I recently acquired, seen here in my last post.

Shoes {ShoeStation.com}

Here's how I would have styled this if I were going to dinner. I cuffed the jeans and added some cheerful heels.

How Did Your Weekend Go?

My weekend was good and bad. I'll start with the bad. I did not get a scholarship I applied for, bad. I had an exam due, bad. I had a quiz due, bad. My face broke out, bad.

Now for the good! I restrained myself from shopping, good. I had an awesome massage on Saturday, good. I slept until 10 on Sunday, good. I celebrated the hubs's birthday with cupcakes and books, good. I finished our taxes, good. Overall, my weekend was good.

Here's what I wore for the hubs's birthday. I just wanted something cute and comfy. I got this blouse at the TxSC swap. This was my pick from Lulu's. This blouse is amazing. I've worn it so many times; I just haven't taken photos. I'm so glad that I branched out and picked an item that wasn't me. It has really encouraged me to try more blouses like it. So, thank you, Lulu's, for the opportunity to try it.

These bracelets from Purse & Clutch are so sweet. (I picked these up at the TxSC Posh Party.) Thank you, Jen, for these amazing bracelets! I have a place in my heart for Purse & Clutch. "[T]hey are committed to non discrimination, to environmental sustainability, and to favorable work conditions." These aspects are very important to me as a public health professional, a humanitarian, and a consumer.

Fuchsia Know Me Better Than That

See that play on words? I surprise myself sometimes. Today has been one of those days. I had to leave work early; and on my way home I got pulled over because my break light was out. Then, a block before I was home, my check engine light came on. I really can't start this day over, so instead I'm embracing it. I decided to shake things up today. I normally don't put together outfits just to take photos, but I thought I could use a change for today.

I went thrifting with my sisters a couple of weeks ago. I was looking for Spring pieces that I could incorporate into my existing wardrobe. I found this awesome fuchsia pair of cropped pants. My sisters thought I was crazy. They should know me better than that! I told them they would have to wait to see how I styled them before making judgments. How awesome is this outfit? It's right on trend (Also something I don't usually do; I buy what speaks to me). What's not to like? Cropped, yes! Pink, yes! Awesome turquoise shoes, yes! Better mood, yes!

Clothes can really improve your mental state. So why not try something different? As you all are probably aware, I stick to blues and browns. I know what colors are best on me, but if I weren't open to trying new styles or colors it would start to get boring over here. I'm have to thank Natalie from The Closet de Natalie for inspiring me to try cropped pants. Thanks, Natalie. I follow her Instagram and saw a photo of her in cropped pants and instantly I wanted to try a pair.

Shirt: Karen Scott {Goodwill}
Pants: Worthington {Salvation Army}
Shoes: Qupid {Lulu's}
Earrings: {Langford Market}
Necklace worn as bracelet: {Banana Republic}

Price Tag: Shirt-$4, Pants-$5, Shoes-$0 (gift card I won from LuLu's at TxSC, $29), Earrings-$13, Bracelet-$40 = $62 (with shoes $91)

Do you buy trendy pieces? Or just pieces that you love? Or both?

Pastels Are a Must

It's been a few days since a fresh post, so I thought I would squeeze one in before studying. Nothing particularly insightful, though. It's just another Monday.

I know it's been a while since the Texas Style Council Swap, so here is one of my awesome swap finds. I picked up this great vintage dress from either Valliant Style or The Blue Threshold (I can't remember; getting older is tough). It is such a great spring piece. If you haven't heard, pastels are hot right now which means I'm so hot right now. Haha, I make myself laugh. I normally don't wear pastels, but I took the swap as an opportunity to try things I normally wouldn't pick for myself. I didn't spend anything on my choices, so no loss to try something different. Good decision on my part, because I can't tell you how comfortable this dress is. Love.

Dress: Vintage via TxSC Swap
Shoes: Report via outlet (I can't remember which store)
Belt: Charlotte Russe
Earrings: Gifted

Price Tag: Dress-$0 (swapped it), Shoes-$~20, Belt-$10, Earrings-$0 (gift) = $~30

My head hurts, so I'm ending this short post.
